Inside Intel’s Inertia: Investment lessons from Silicon Giant’s slip

Intel has had quite a turbulent few weeks. Its market value has plunged by two-thirds since 2021, driven by slumping sales and missed chances in AI, which have brought about job cuts in an effort to cut costs. Still, Intel managed to score a deal with Amazon to develop custom chips for Amazon Web Services, providing a boost to its third-party foundry business. On top of that, Qualcomm is said to have approached Intel about a potential buyout, while Apollo Global Management has made a multibillion-dollar investment offer to support CEO Pat Gelsinger’s turnaround strategy.
