Cyberattack shuts down important websites by disrupting Government Operations in Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand’s IT infrastructure has been seriously disrupted by a significant cyberattack, which has stopped all state government functions.
On October 4, administrative tasks, including vital services at the Secretariat, were delayed for the second day. Essential government websites and services, including the CM Helpline, Land Registry, and e-Office, were completely shut down as a result of the cyberattack, impacting activities throughout the whole state.
Nikita Khandelwal, Director of the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA), spoke to the media about the situation, stating, “During scanning on October 2, it was found that the machine has been affected by malware, so as a precaution we have shut down our data centre, due to which all applications have been shut down and all are being scanned.”
After extensive testing, attempts are being made to restore the system by the next morning. Khandelwal added that the cyberattack had impacted 186 government websites.
