Microsoft, US justice department take down 107 websites used by hackers tied to Russian intelligence
Microsoft has said that the company’s Digital Crimes Unit (DCU) and the US Department of Justice (DoJ) have seized a total of 107 websites that were in use by hackers with links to Russian intelligence agents and their proxies in the US.
The tech giant says that while it seized 66 domains under a civil action, the justice department seized 41 internet domains used by the hackers group — called Star Blizzard — known to commit computer fraud and abuse in the US.
The group is said to work for the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and has been active since at least 2016.
