Brazil’s top court delays X’s return over fine payment error
Brazil’s Supreme Court delayed its decision on restoring social media platform X’s services after the company’s lawyers paid outstanding fines to the wrong bank. On Friday, Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ruled that the payment must be transferred to the correct bank before considering X’s request to resume operations.
Earlier in the day, Elon Musk-owned X had asked the court to lift its suspension in Brazil, claiming all pending fines had been paid. However, the platform still owes over $5 million in fines, according to the court’s previous ruling.
