Microsoft’s AI energy needs to be supplied by US nuclear plant at controversial site

The surging demand for computing energy amid the generative AI wave could lead to the reboot of a nuclear plant located at the site where a partial meltdown once occurred.

The shuttered nuclear reactor at Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania, US, is being reactivated to power Microsoft’s AI-driven, data centre energy needs, according to a report by CNET.
