AI-generated Shorts, new Hype button: Everything unveiled at ‘Made on YouTube’ 2024

YouTube unveiled new AI features during its ‘Made On’ event on Wednesday, September 18, as part of a broader set of announcements aimed at unlocking “new forms of expression for creators.” Users will soon be able to generate six-second standalone video clips for YouTube Shorts with the help of an AI video model developed by Google Deepmind called Veo.

“For example, if you’re looking through your footage and feel like you’re missing something to help tie it all together, you can effortlessly generate a singular clip that fits right in with the content you’ve already captured,” the Alphabet-owned company said in a blog post. YouTube further stated that these AI-generated clips will be labelled and watermarked using SynthID.
