An investigation by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has reportedly discovered that US-based e-commerce majors like Amazon and Walmart who own Flipkart have violated local competition laws. The probe by the country’s competition watchdog claims that these e-tailer platforms allegedly gave preference to select sellers on their shopping websites. CCI reportedly ordered this investigation against Amazon and Flipkart in 2020 following allegations that these platforms promoted certain sellers with which they had business arrangements and gave priority to certain listings.
