Dimitri Simes, a Russian-born US citizen and former Trump campaign adviser has been indicted by the US government on Thursday for working for a sanctioned Russian state television network and laundering the proceeds.
Indictments announced Thursday by the Department of Justice allege that Simes, a 76-year-old resident of Virginia, and his wife, Anastasia Simes, received over $1 million and additional perks from Russia’s Channel One in exchange for their services. Channel One was sanctioned by the US in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
