Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has expressed regret over what he claims was “pressure from the US government” to censor Covid-19 content on Facebook and Instagram during the pandemic.
In a letter to Jim Jordan, head of the US House Judiciary Committee, Zuckerberg stated that senior White House officials in Joe Biden’s administration “repeatedly pressured” Meta to “censor certain Covid-19 content,” including humour and satire, and expressed frustration when the company did not comply.
