Government to regulate WhatsApp, Telegram and others: DoT officials issue clarification

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has clarified that it does not plan to regulate the over-the-top (OTT) communication apps like WhatsApp, Telegram and others. According to a report by the Economic Reports, DoT officials said that the definition of telecommunication under the new Act does not apply to such apps.
