Apple announces iOS updates for EU: Default apps, enhanced browser choice, app deletion and more

pple has announced significant updates for iOS and iPadOS users in the European Union to comply with the Digital Markets Act. Available later this year, these changes will give EU users greater control over their devices with new features for default apps, browser choices, and app deletions.

New default apps section

One of the key updates includes the introduction of a “Default Apps” section in Settings for iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. This new section will allow users to set their preferred default apps for various functions including phone calls, messaging, text translation, navigation, password management, keyboards, and call spam filtering.
