Grid Telecom, Tamares team up to build cable station in Cyprus

ATHENS: Grid Telecom, part of Greece’s power grid operator ADMIE, has teamed up with Israel-based Tamares Telecom to build a cable station and coastal infrastructure in Cyprus that will enhance digital connectivity in the eastern Mediterranean region, they said on Wednesday.

The two companies last year agreed to build an undersea optic fibre telecoms cable system to connect Cyprus and Israel to Greece.

The new open-access telecoms hub in Cyprus will branch out to the planned cable system and link the island in the Eastern Mediterranean to Greece in the west and to Israel, Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula in the east, the two companies said in a joint statement.
