A resident of Panchkula was duped of Rs 1.80 lakh in a cyber-fraud in the name of earning from home. She said she came across a web link about earning money while working from home on Instagram. Upon clicking it, she was added to a WhatsApp group, and advised to complete small tasks, such as clicking the like button on various videos to earn money.
The scammers directed her to download Telegram and like various videos on it. In the beginning they paid her Rs 200 for liking a video. The scammers then asked her to send them money in the name of making purchases in bitcoin.
