2 held for creating fake website of MHADA ahead of lottery

Two men were arrested by the Mumbai cyber police on Saturday for creating a fake website resembling the official Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) portal and cheating applicants of lakhs of rupees. Police suspect at least 10–15 persons have lost money in the scam.

Earlier this month, MHADA released a list of properties that would be given at discounted rates in the lottery when people went to its website for details. An officer said that the fraudsters created a similar website and cheated people by taking payments from them.
