After Netflix, Disney plans to put an end to password sharing
In July last year, Netflix sent emails to members who have shared passwords outside of their households and rolled out its anti-password sharing initiative in India. Now, Disney seems to be on the same track with CEO Bob Iger saying that the platform will start cracking down on password sharing starting this September in an effort to increase its subscriber base.
A recent report by The Verge claims that the Disney CEO made the announcement in an earnings call, saying that the crackdown will start “in earnest.” While the recent announcement suggests that Disney is pulling a Netflix, earlier this year in February the company started notifying users about its paid sharing plans.
