95.15% of villages in India have Internet access today: Telecom ministry

NEW DELHI: 6.12 lakh villages out of 6.44 lakh in the country have 3G/4G mobile connectivity, or 95.15% of villages in India have access to the Internet, the Ministry of Communications said in an official statement on Friday.

“Under the Digital India Initiative, the government has taken several initiatives to connect not only Metros but also tier-2 and tier-3 cities as well as rural and remote areas,” the ministry said.
