NEW DELHI: Sub-$99 (~Rs 8,000) smartphones powered by chipsets from the likes of American Qualcomm and China’s Unisoc could potentially help 156 million feature phone users migrate to the fifth-generation networks by 2030 in India, according to the findings of a study released by Techarc on Wednesday.

“Between the 2024-2030 period, we estimate the 5G widening into the sub-$99 segment to add $13 billion cumulatively in revenues for the smartphone industry. This would be earned by potentially adding 156 million featurephone users to 5G during this period,” the research firm said.
