Four Indian TV channels halt broadcast in Nepal over unpaid dues

The transmission of four popular Indian TV channels- Zee, Sony Entertainment, Star and Colors- has been halted in Nepal due to non-payment of service charges.

The broadcasting has been suspended for the time being due to financial issues between channel broadcasters and distributors. The service providers have informed customers about the interruption via SMSes.

According to the stakeholders, Nepal Rastra Bank has not provided the exchange facility for the payment required to use the services.

Previously, internet services were also suspended temporarily due to disputes over mutual transactions. Service provider companies have assured that they will soon find a solution to resume the broadcasting of these four channels.
