Trai issues consultation to explore need for separate voice and data plans
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Friday issued a consultation paper to explore the need for separate voice and SMS and data plans to meet the specific requirements of subscribers.According to the regulator, there is a growing demand from certain user segments for more specialised tariff options, such as voice and SMS-only packs. This is because, despite the prevalence of bundled plans that include both data and voice and SMS services, many consumers find themselves paying for data they do not use.
