Centre revises PMI policy, includes PLI scheme-led products

NEW DELHI: The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Friday amended the public procurement of preference to Make in India (PMI) policy of 2017, mandating the firms to adhere to local content, and included a provision for procuring products manufactured under the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme.

“The manufacturers manufacturing an item under PLI scheme shall be treated as deemed class II local supplier for that item unless they have minimum local content equal to or higher than that notified for class I local supplier for that item, provided the manufacturer has received incentive from the concerned PLI ministry for the item,” the notification said.
