Reliance Jio leads in active subscriber base, grows by 3.5 million in May: Analysts
NEW DELHI: Reliance Jio led the market in active subscribers addition in May 2024, while that of Bharti Airtel remained moderate, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) continued to lose ground to its top rivals, dragged by a sharp churn in the lower average revenue per user (ARPU) segments driven by a sharp hike in entry-level prepaid tariffs, according to brokerage firms.
Jio’s active subscriber base grew by 3.5 million, and Airtel’s active subscriber base increased by 0.9 million. In contrast, Vodafone Idea’s (Vi) active subscribers dipped by 1.7 million in May, the brokerage firms said, analysing the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) latest industry data.
