Efforts on to boost 5G connectivity, telcos can soon deploy IBS at airports: Top official

NEW DELHI: The telecom department (DoT) is working closely with the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MCA) to improve next-generation (5G) wireless connectivity, and telecom companies would soon be able to deploy in-building (IBS) solutions across India’s airports.

“The Department of Telecommunication and the Ministry of Civil Aviation are working in close coordination, with a view to improve 5G coverage in and around airports,” Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, DoT told ETTelecom, adding that the department is ensuring that there would “no adverse impact” on the functioning of radio altimeter.
