Karnataka aims to ensure proposed gig workers bill is ‘win-win for all’

Karnataka state government has decided to have a wider consultation on its bill to extend social security and welfare benefits to platform-based gig workers as sections of tech firms aired their concerns at a breakfast meeting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar had with them on Friday.

An app-based aggregator said they have been adding thousands of new jobs in Bengaluru and the proposed law should not come in the way of growth in jobs. Bengaluru, they said, has the largest number of gig workers compared to other cities in India.
