Global PC market shipments up by 3% in Q2 2024, Apple sees highest growth: IDC

NEW DELHI: The global personal computer (PC) shipments grew by 3% to 64.9 million units in the second quarter of 2024, helped by the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI)-capable devices, with Apple seeing the highest volume increase, according to the preliminary market data released by the International Data Corporation (IDC) Tuesday.

“The traditional PC market delivered its second quarter of growth following seven consecutive quarters of decline,” IDC said in the report. It added that the overall market benefitted from favourable comparisons to 2023, but results in China continued to restrain the market.
