Google Maps test new feature to promote sponsored businesses

Google Maps has started a new test that will suggest sponsored stops to drivers. A user named Anthony Higman took to social media platform X (earlier Twitter) to reveal the existence of the feature and shared how it works. The X post (first seen by PhoneArena) claims that the Google Maps app may now suggest pitstops at businesses that pay to advertise on the app, even if they aren’t on the driver’s route.
