Japan wins the floppy disk war, and why it is a milestone

Japan’s government has finally eliminated the use of floppy disks in all its systems, marking the end of an era and a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to modernise its bureaucracy.
Digital Minister Taro Kono announced on Wednesday, “We have won the war on floppy disks on June 28!” according to Reuters. The Digital Agency has scrapped 1,034 regulations governing the use of floppy disks, with only one environmental regulation related to vehicle recycling remaining.
