In a move signalling Apple’s growing interest and focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Bloomberg reported on Tuesday that the tech giant will secure an observer role on OpenAI’s board as part of a partnership announced last month.
According to the report, Phil Schiller, Apple’s App Store chief and former marketing head, will be appointed to the observer position. Observers, while lacking voting rights or other typical board member authorities, are granted access to board meetings, providing valuable insight into the company’s decision-making processes.
