Proactive measures against cyber vulnerabilities are vital: Here’s how companies can get started
Companies need to move swiftly when patching the latest vulnerabilities, as there’s no longer time to play catch-up. With 26,447 known vulnerabilities catalogued in 2023 and 25% of high-risk vulnerabilities exploited on the day of publication, it’s clear that the severity and pace of exploitation are only increasing.
The latest Data Breach Investigations Report from Verizon confirms this growing, alarming trend. 14%of breaches in 2023 involved the exploitation of vulnerabilities as an initial access step, almost triple the amount from the year before. And research from Fortinet says that cybercriminals are exploiting new vulnerabilities 43% faster than in the first half of 2023. The costs of these breaches are rising significantly as well, with recent major breaches incurring over $100 million in damages.
