Google is reportedly testing facial recognition technology at one of Alphabet’s (its parent company) sites in Kirkland, Washington, a Seattle suburb. As per a report, the security cameras at the site are already collecting facial data and comparing it to images stored from employee badge images.
Citing a description of the program, CNBC reports that the testing is done for office security “to help prevent unauthorised individuals from gaining access to our campuses.” The data collected is being matched to determine if there are unauthorised people on the company premises.
