Huawei will Work with Global Telecom Forums to Ensure Sustainable Development
Huawei announced that telecom stakeholders from the North Africa (MENA) and Middle East and Central Asia regions came together at a roundtable during MWC Shanghai 2024, the leading connectivity event in the Asia-Pacific region, to address policy and cybersecurity standards.
Key stakeholders including senior officials from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and Huawei convened to discuss the evolving landscape of telecom policies and cybersecurity standards. The sessions were structured around the theme “Driving Policy and Innovation to Shape Our Digital Future,” focusing on spectrum management, optical technologies, and data communication policy frameworks.
A central focus of the discussions was the adoption and promotion of GSMA’s Network Equipment Security Assurance Scheme (NESAS) and Mobile Cybersecurity Knowledge Base (MCKB). These initiatives, designed to enhance network security across mobile ecosystems, were highlighted as essential tools for ensuring robust cybersecurity measures.
The forum also addressed specific regional challenges and opportunities, such as spectrum planning for 5G networks, enhancing rural connectivity through universal service funds, and optimizing regulatory frameworks to support digital economy foundations.
Moving forward, Huawei remains dedicated to working with global telecom bodies to ensure secure and sustainable development across the mobile ecosystem.
