Senior citizen loses Rs 30 lakh in cyber fraud

A 61-year-old ex-banker from Kurla lost Rs 30 lakh to cyber fraudsters posing as stock market investors. The cyber police have registered a complaint on Saturday and are further investigating the matter.

According to the police, on February 18 this year, the complainant’s number was randomly added in a WhatsApp group—“A514 (Evercore stock promotion group).”

One of the four admins of the group introduced himself as the vice president of a reputed securities company and claimed that his company has collaborated with Evercore stock promotion group.
