Snapchat’s parent company, Snap Inc. has agreed to pay $15 million to its female employees to settle a gender discrimination lawsuit filed by the California Civil Rights Department. The lawsuit alleges that the US-based company failed to ensure fair pay and promotion opportunities for its female employees for three years.
What the lawsuit alleges
The lawsuit (seen by The Verge) covers Snap’s period of growth between 2015 to 2022 when the messaging platform’s parent expanded its workforce from 250 to over 5,000 employees.
