AI could bring 2.6 bn unconnected people online on internet: ITU Broadband Commission study
NEW DELHI: Artificial Intelligence (AI) could potentially bring online 2.6 billion people who are still not connected to the Internet, according to a report by the Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development.
The Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development is a public-private partnership body established in 2010 by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
As per the report, currently, 5.4 billion are online today. Internet use grew to an estimated 67% of the global population in 2023, up from 54% in 2019 – representing an annualised growth rate of around 6% over 2021.
