Gujarat High Court imposes Rs 25,000 cost on woman for circulating obscene photos of roommate on social media

While quashing a 2021 FIR, the Gujarat High Court on Monday imposed a cost of Rs 25,000 on a woman accused of circulating obscene photos of her college roommate.

While taking up the case for consideration, Justice Nirzar Desai orally remarked to the accused’s lawyer, who had moved a petition seeking quashing of the FIR, “First you click someone’s obscene photographs, circulate it on social media. What about the reputation of that girl, she is also a college-going girl… Considering she is also in her early 20s, I’m imposing lesser costs.”
