DoT to Undertake MSME Survey to Push Industry 4.0 Applications

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) Wednesday said it is planning a 60-day survey of micro, medium and small enterprises (MSMEs) to help them adopt emerging technologies in the 5G and 6G domain.

The DoT has proposed a baseline survey among micro, small and medium enterprises for Industry 4.0 applications aligning with its broader vision of fostering digital transformation and preparing industries for the advent of 5G and 6G technologies.

The survey will be targeted on understanding the challenges faced by MSMEs in adapting to advanced industry 4.0 technologies, with the aim to lay the groundwork for a robust ecosystem capable of capitalizing on the capabilities offered by AI, IoT, cloud computing and the integration of 5G and 6G networks.

The DoT has asked organisations and startups to submit proposals by June 11, 2024 to participate in this survey.

The survey will include identifying sector-specific needs in at least 10 sectors, to provide targeted support to foster innovation and competitiveness.

The DoT said the survey will, over a 60-day period, cover five sectors in North and South India, with the key recommendations forming the platform for policy interventions to achieve adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies.
