Smart TV shipments fall 14% y-o-y in India; Samsung takes the lead

India’s smart TV shipments fell 14% year-on-year in the January to March quarter as per the latest data by Counterpoint Research, which the researcher attributed to multiple factors such as muted consumer demand, excess inventory build-up at major brands, and reduced demand for smaller-screen smart TVs. The researcher also said Samsung has overtaken Xiaomi for the leadership position by shipment volume for the first time ever in India even as the share of Chinese manufacturers continued to decline.
