V Raghunandan to take over as new Trai secretary, Gupta to oversee LSAs

V Raghunandan will take charge as the new secretary of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).

This comes after Sunil Kumar Gupta was granted a two-month extension till May 31, 2021, to continue as a secretary at TRAI in March this year.

Gupta is now appointed as a senior deputy director general at the office of Director General – Telecom in the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), and will oversee all field units under the 22 Licensed Service Areas (LSA).

Secretary-designate Raghunandan was working as a deputy director general at the Department of Telecommunications.

Gupta had taken over as Trai secretary in September 2017 shortly after his predecessor Sudhir Gupta retired in July that year. Before his current role, he was principal advisor (broadcasting & cable services) at Trai.
