Distorted GIFs plague Android users receiving messages from iPhones

Android users have recently reported receiving distorted GIFs from their iPhone-wielding contacts. The issue, which seems to have begun in mid-May, transforms the normally animated images into garbled, pixelated still frames when sent via SMS or MMS from an iPhone to an Android device using Google Messages.
