MSME license: How to migrate from previous Udyog Aadhaar to new Udyam registration online?

The MSME Ministry introduced the Udyam registration portal in July 2020 for businesses leverage different schemes of the ministry to access credit, market their product, and more. Till July 2020, the Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) launched in September 2015, was necessary for businesses to register as MSMEs.

However, to allow registered businesses continue benefitting from various schemes, the government urged enterprises to move to the Udyam registration portal. The UAM license, with 1.02 crore holders, was valid till June 2022. As of May 24, 4.45 crore businesses were registered as MSMEs under the Udyam registration portal.
