WhatsApp working to let you easily add, reorder, and remove your “favourites” in app, report says
Instant messaging platform WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is reportedly developing a new feature that will enable users to conveniently add, rearrange, and delete their “favourite” contacts and groups directly from the app settings. This functionality is slated for release in an upcoming update.
The primary objective behind this feature seems to be to streamline the task of organising and overseeing favourite contacts and groups within the calls tab. It has been spotted under WhatsApp for Android version 2.24.9.19 by update tracker website WABetaInfo.
The feature promises to simplify the often intricate process of managing favourites, thus offering users greater ease and efficiency in their communication endeavours. Notably, when users mark contacts or groups as favourites, they will not trigger any notification to those contacts, it is reported. This feature overhaul signifies WhatsApp’s commitment to enhancing user experience and addressing potential complexities within the platform’s functionality.
WhatsApp is also reportedly testing a faster way for you to know when your contacts were online recently. A new tab called “recently online” inside the app’s interface will show you a list of people who were recently online and so, the need to do this manually on case-by-case basis could be a thing of the past soon. Elsewhere, WhatsApp is also getting access to Meta AI chatbot in select markets including India.
