Lenovo bets big on AI to fuel India’s growth at Tech World India 2024
Global technology powerhouse, Lenovo, unveiled its grandiose vision of ‘AI for All’ at its annual flagship event, Tech World India 2024. AI for All highlights the company’s roadmap for the future and its commitment to harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive intelligent transformation across industries, empowering individuals, enterprises, and entire sectors.
The day-long event showcased Lenovo’s comprehensive cutting-edge AI capabilities, spanning purpose-built devices, robust infrastructure, innovative solutions, and expert services designed to bring AI power from “pocket to cloud.” This holistic approach ensures that every user, regardless of their technical background can benefit from AI’s transformative potential.
Democratising AI
A key highlight at Tech World India was the launch of a new range of AI-powered devices in collaboration with Intel. These include cutting-edge consumer and commercial PCs like the Yoga Slim 7i, Yoga Pro 9i, IdeaPad Slim 5i, and ThinkPad X1 Carbon. These devices boast the latest Intel® Core™ Ultra Processors, unlocking new AI experiences that personalisethe computing experience, boosting productivity, creativity and efficiency. They represent the vanguard of an “AI PC revolution” poised to change how we interact with technology fundamentally.
Exclusive AI and gaming experience zones at the venue exhibited the power of immersive gaming, Think devices’ versatility and Yoga PCs’ creativity. The zone also showcased ThinkEdge servers powering robots, digital twins, and GenAI solutions, highlighting Lenovo’s “Make in India” potential. The unveiling of ‘Made in India’ devices marked a significant milestone, placing Lenovo in the Class 1 PMA category with over 50% of components for specific products sourced locally.
Shaping India’s tech future
Prioritising AI and integrating advanced AI capabilities into personal computers and smartphones is the key to growth. “In the next two to three years, 70% of devices will be AI-native,” said Luca Rossi, President and EVP at Intelligent Devices Group (IDG) at Lenovo, highlighting the immense potential of AI in the consumer space, initially in premium devices, and later permeating across the entire product roadmap.
Shailendra Katyal, Managing Director of Lenovo India, expressed his enthusiasm about the event. “This edition of Tech World is especially exciting for us as we leapfrog towards building solutions that are going to unlock an exciting vision of ‘AI for All’ for Lenovo in India. It is also an opportunity for us to come together with our valued partners to unleash the true power of AI and showcase purpose-built AI-ready pocket to cloud solutions,” said Katyal. He also acknowledged the transformative potential of AI in India and emphasised Lenovo India’s commitment to accelerating this growth by providing exceptional experiences for both consumers and businesses.
Matthew Zielinski, the company’s Executive Vice President and President for International Markets, revealed plans to make servers in India, outlining Lenovo’s strategic expansion goals. This sentiment was echoed by Vladimir Rozanovich, Senior Vice-President of the Infrastructure Solutions Group at Lenovo, who highlighted the company’s expectations for double-digit growth in its Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) vertical. The decision to manufacture servers in India reflects Lenovo’s commitment to tapping into the burgeoning market and further bolstering its presence in the region.

Besides showcasing a wide variety of sleek and innovative Lenovo devices and products, Tech World India was a melting pot of AI and technology leaders and industry experts who engaged in meaningful dialogue on various subjects including the role of AI in democratising the lives of individuals to the role of the government. Industry veterans like Santhosh Viswanathan from Intel and Bhaskar Basu from Microsoft shared deep insights about AI’s impact and potential to democratise technology. Power packed panel discussions featuring experts from NASSCOM AI, Krutrim, KPMG, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Tech Whisperer discussed the “Emerging Disruptive Landscape Through GenAI” and the crucial aspects of “Responsible and Ethical AI.” These discussions emphasised the importance of making AI accessible to all while ensuring its development and application adhere to ethical principles.
Made in India for the world
Amar Babu, President of Lenovo Asia Pacific, highlighted how AI is the catalyst for accelerating India’ s digital revolution. He noted, “I think at the moment it is now coming to prime time. And in our mind, we believe that AI has a huge potential, both for driving solutions for India, and also has huge potential where India can help to drive solutions for the world.”
