UK-based Norden Communication partners C-DAC to make thermal cameras in India
UK-based Norden Communication has tied up with state-run Centre for Development and Advanced Computing to develop AI-based general purpose thermal cameras, which are for security purposes and other industrial applications. C-DAC, a research and development entity under the Electronics and IT ministry, has developed the thermal camera hardware and they have entered into a Transfer of Technology (ToT) agreement with Norden, where the company will add some analytics on top of it, produce and take it to the mass market, a company statement said.
Norden specialises in the manufacture and distribution of extra-low voltage solutions.
Norden Communication, Director – India and SAARC , Prashant Oberoi said the company expects to start shipment of “Made In India” thermal cameras within six months.
“This collaboration stands as an opportunity to advance in surveillance technology and demonstrates unwavering dedication to national security as a part of the Make-in-India initiative,” he said.
“It will be manufactured in India. Though location is yet to be finalised, we are hoping shipments will start in the next two quarters,” Oberoi said.
