Disney Star onboards 18 sponsors across categories for Asia Cup
Disney Star, the official broadcaster of Asia Cup for both TV and digital platforms, has onboarded 18 sponsors for the marquee cricket tournament that starts today.
The sponsors include renowned brands such as Charged by Thums Up, Nerolac Paint+, Glow & Lovely from HUL, Surf Excel, Jindal Panther, BPCL, My11Circle, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5, Amul, Maruti, Berger, McEnroe, Thums Up, Amazon Pay, MRF, Policy Bazaar, Tira from Reliance Retail and ICICI PRU MF, the company said in a release.
“Brands across categories are equally excited and have come forward to collaborate with Star Sports Network and Disney+ Hotstar to further their business objectives and get closer to millions of fans,” said Ajit Varghese, Head of Network – Ad Sales, Disney Star. “We are thrilled with the positive response received for the Asia Cup,” he added.
According to sources aware of the development, Disney Star has so far onboarded more than 85 advertisers across TV and the digital platform for Asia Cup.
The participating categories for Star Sports include beverages, handsets, 4-wheelers, 2-wheelers and auto ancillaries, BFSI, fantasy gaming, steel, paints, FMCG and personal care, e-commerce, and retail. Disney+ Hotstar categories include auto, BFSI, CPG, gaming, tech.
Disney Star will be broadcasting the Asia Cup tournament, which also involves at least one clash between arch rivals India and Pakistan, across Star Sports Network and Disney+ Hotstar. The tournament is scheduled to start today and run till September 17. India will play against Pakistan in Asia Cup on September 2.
Cricket fever is at an all-time high as sports fans across India wait in anticipation to watch the ‘Men In Blue’ in action at the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, Varghese said.
This comes at a time amid reports about a general lull in the industry to pull advertisers to the 50-over Asia Cup event.
