Low power small range FM radio broadcasting

Trai has come out with a consultation paper on deployment of low power small range FM radio broadcasting licensing regime for commercial applications.

Ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) in its letter dated March 7, 2022 to Trai had said that it received an application from PVR Ltd, seeking permission to establish a Community Radio Station, to be used for commercial purposes. But the application could not be consented to as commercial (profit-oriented) entities are prohibited from applying for Community Radio license, under the Policy Guidelines for setting up Community Radio Station (CRS) in India.
