Analog Devices to invest $693 mln in new manufacturing plant in Ireland
Analog Devices Inc on Monday said it will invest 630 million euros ($693.5 million) in a new research and development and manufacturing plant in Ireland, as the U.S. chipmaker looks to boost its production capacity in Europe.
The company expects to triple its European wafer production capacity and create 600 jobs at the new 45,000 square foot facility in the city of Limerick.
The Wilmington, Massachusetts-based firm makes chips that are used for industrial robots, 5G telecommunications equipment and automobiles. It has been located in Limerick, its European headquarters, since the mid-1970s.
The move follows a similar 100 million euro investment that ADI announced last year in a facility for innovation and collaboration.
