India climbs eight ranks up in median mobile download speeds in November: Ookla

India climbed eight spots in the global ranking for median mobile download speeds – from 113th in October to 105th in November, but slipped a rank down in the median fixed broadband speeds in the month, according to the latest report by internet testing firm Ookla.

India showed a significant improvement in median mobile download speeds – recording 18.26Mbps in November, up from 16.50Mbps in October, as per Ookla.

However, India fell one spot in rank globally for overall median fixed broadband speeds and is now in the 80th position in November from 79th in October.

India’s performance in fixed median download speeds, however, witnessed a slight increase from 48.78 in October to 49.09 Mbps in November, according to the firm.

According to Ookla, Qatar leads the chart for global median mobile speeds, whereas Senegal jumped 16 spots in rank globally. For fixed broadband download speeds, Chile remains on top position, and Palestine and Bhutan increased 14 spots in rank globally.
