K Rajaraman appointed as new telecom secretary

The Centre has appointed K Rajaraman, a Tamil Nadu cadre 1989-batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer as a new secretary in the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), replacing Anshu Prakash.

Rajaraman is currently working as an additional secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), and would take over new role following Prakash’s superannuation on September 30, 2021.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has conveyed the decision to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

“Shri K. Rajaraman, lAS (TN:89), Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance as Secretary, Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications vice Shri Anshu Prakash, IAS (UT: 86) upon his superannuation on 30.09. 2021,” the DoPT in a notification Wednesday said.

In August 2019, Prakash took over charge as a DoT secretary, replacing Aruna Sundararajan, a Kerala cadre 1982-batch IAS officer, who retired on July 31 after a two-year stint.
