Disney+ Hotstar to hire 250 people across various verticals to drive growth
Disney+ Hotstar (formerly Hotstar) Thursday said it will hire 250 people across various levels and verticals to drive its next phase of growth and transformation.
The streaming platform intends to hire engineers, marketers and consumer growth personnel across client platforms, personalization of video content, payments, and subscriptions, as per an official statement.

The streaming platform provides entertainment options such as live sports, Hotstar Specials, Disney+ premium content, Bollywood releases, as well as regional content, local TV content amongst others.
“Disney+ Hotstar has witnessed immense success since its launch. It was the strongest contributor to net subscriber additions, making up approximately a third of the total Disney+ subscriber base,” the statement further said.
Disney+ logged an average revenue per user (ARPU) of $3.99 per month. However, excluding Disney+ Hotstar, it was $5.61 per month, Disney Chief Financial Officer Christine McCarthy had said during the Q2 FY21 earnings call, ET reported previously.
Disney+ Hotstar added about 2.5 million subscribers during the quarter, taking its overall base to 31 million subscribers.
Here in India, Disney+ Hotstar offers yearly plans ranging from Rs 399 (DIsney+ Hotstar VIP) to Rs 399 (Disney+ Hotstar Premium), and a monthly premium plan priced at Rs 299.
It competes with local and international players such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Zee5, Voot, among others.
