Huawei, ZTE not provided trusted telecom products portal login details: Report
The Central government has not provided the login details for accessing the trusted telecom products portal to Chinese telecom gear makers such as Huawei and ZTE, Financial Express reported citing sources.
This comes after the implementation of the National Security Directive on the telecoms sectors.
Meanwhile, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea and their domestic as well as international vendors such as Nokia, Ericsson, Cisco, Tejas Networks, HFCL, etc., have received the credentials in the last few days, the report added.
It is pertinent to note that the portal was launched on June 15 for giving clearance to the trusted telecom products that the telcos can install in their networks as part of the National Security Directive on the telecoms sector.
The portal requires the telcos to specify which products they want to procure and from which vendor. After this, the access to portals will also be provided to the respective gear maker named by the telco.
Also, if an operator intends to procure telecom gear from any Chinese gear then it will be their responsibility to fulfill all the requirements on the portal on behalf of the Chinese companies.
Once this is done, the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) will take a call on whether the products can be deemed as ‘trusted’ or not.
Telcos can, however, also seek a waiver from the government, in case they want to use the products from Chinese companies, the report said.
