Airtel deploys additional 17.4MHz spectrum in Himachal Pradesh to enhance indoor network experience
Telecom operator Bharti Airtel Thursday said it has deployed an additional 17.4MHz spectrum across 900, 1800, and 2300MHZ bands in Himachal Pradesh to enhance the indoor network experience for its customers.
Of this, 2.6MHz has been added in the 900MHz band, 4.8MHz in the 1800MHz band, and 10MHz in the 2300MHz band.
“The deployment of additional spectrum will enable improved network availability and data speeds along with better coverage inside homes and buildings in urban and rural areas,” the Sunil Mittal-led telco said.
With the addition of this spectrum, which was acquired during the latest spectrum auctions conducted by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in March, Airtel has the largest spectrum bank of 70 MHz in Himachal Pradesh.
The second-largest Indian telco now holds 40MHz spectrum in the 2300 band, 20MHz in 1800+2100 bands, and 10MHz in the 900 band.
Manu Sood, Hub CEO – Upper North, Bharti Airtel said, “With the addition of 17.4 MHz spectrum across bands, Airtel now has the largest spectrum bank of 70 MHz in Himachal Pradesh. This uniquely positions Airtel to deliver an exceptional indoor and outdoor experience to customers in the state. We continue to invest aggressively in the new spectrum and network upgrades at a time when our customers need it the most.”
Airtel has also deployed advanced network technologies and tools such as pre-5G Massive MIMO, 4G Advanced, and Carrier Aggregation to step up high-speed network capacity and coverage.
As per the telco, it has over 2.98 million customers in Himachal Pradesh and its network covers 95.02% population of the state.
